Demand for iPhone 14 is lower and Apple rethinks plan to increase production – APK Games

Apparently, the most basic model of the iPhone 14 didn’t make it. Therefore, Apple would be planning to reduce the production of the device – at least that’s what a new report from the Bloomberg. The reason for the low demand would be the more attractive price of last year’s iPhone 13, which is so similar to its younger brother that the chip is the same.

The report says that “an anticipated increase in demand [do iPhone 14] did not materialize”, thus Apple would be asking the suppliers to stop producing the device.

According to the source mentioned by Bloomberg, the company would have plans to produce 6 million more iPhones than last year, when it had 90 million units manufactured. Now, that plan would be out of the question.

There is still no information about the production of the iPhone 14 Plus. That’s because, in some countries, Apple decided to start sales of the model on October 7, a month after its announcement.

On the other hand, the scenario seems to be different when we talk about the Pro line. In the report, the Bloomberg says Apple would have asked Foxconn to increase production of the iPhone 14 Pro by 10%.

This, of course, would have some basis, given that it was in these models in which the Cupertino giant made the main changes. The differentials of the 14 Pro line are the Dynamic Island, a powerful camera set, with a 48 MP lens, a new processor and the Always-On Display.

iPhones 14 are now also made in India

This week, Apple announced the transfer of production of the iPhone 14 from China to India. The company’s objective, according to some analysts, is to diversify its production chain.

This announcement marked a fundamental change in the manufacturing strategy of its products, given that, in China, the frequent lockdowns related to COVID-19 have brought many factories to a halt.

in interview to CNN Business, Tarun Pathak, director of research at Counterpoint, said production of the devices in India took place earlier this year. According to him, the company normally starts to manufacture the units in the country about seven to eight months after the launch.

The transfer is not total, it is worth mentioning. Initially, Indian factories are expected to produce only iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models, covering only 5% of production for the company (about 1 million units per month).
