O Galaxy S23 will be one of the most powerful cell phones in samsung🇧🇷 Possibly even from the competition: the line tends to bring a differentiated vintage from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with the promise of offering even more performance to the trio. The special version of the chip must still be manufactured by the South Korean brand itself.
The bet gives a certain definition to the smartphones of the South Korean brand. After all, it has been speculated for months that the company will not launch a variant of the Galaxy S23 line with an Exynos processor🇧🇷 Still, the family did not appear on Qualcomm’s “coming soon” list.
Well, Samsung might not have made the list of soon-to-be-released phones powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2🇧🇷 But that doesn’t mean the Galaxy S22 lineup will be left out. On the contrary, the trio will not only have the component but can be released with a special edition.
Galaxy S23 may have improved processor version
The bet starts from a tweet published by leaker RGcloudS on the 16th🇧🇷 In the publication, he stated that there will be two variants of the chip, the conventional one identified by the SM8550-AB model, manufactured by TSMC with the N4P process. This option has a Cortex X3 Prime core with 3.2 GHz and is intended for all cell phones on the market.
But Samsung will produce the processor at its facilities using the 4-nanometer LPE process. The chip developed by Samsung Foundry, on the other hand, would be recognized by the code SM8550-AC. And that’s where all the advantage begins, as the processor would only be found inside the Galaxy S23.
RGcloudS points out that the Cortex X3 core will be more powerful on the chip that will embark on the successors of the Galaxy S22. In this case, the component will offer a clock of 3.32 GHz, taking a certain advantage to smartphones. The Adreno 740 GPU should also gain performance improvements, as its frequency would increase from 680 MHz to 719 MHz.
Otherwise, the two would have similar arrangements and resources. In addition to Cortex X3, used for tasks that need a lot of firepower, the chips would have four intermediate cores at 2.8 GHz. The list is complete with the three Cortex-A510, with 2 GHz, to provide efficiency to the phone in simpler tasks.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 “pumped” has already appeared
This isn’t the only mention of the improvement to date. Also on Twitter, Ice Universe published the results of a Geekbench test done on a European Galaxy S23 Ultra (SM-S918B). The analysis proves exactly what was said earlier: the cell phone has a 3.36 GHz core.
The benchmark test revealed other details. This is the case with the 8 GB RAM memory and the presence of Android 13. Check out the results of the Geekbench 5 analysis:
- Single Core Score: 1504;
- Multicore Score: 4,580.
After all, what difference does it all make?
The frequency of processors helps determine the speed of cell phones. Roughly speaking, it can be said that the higher the number, the faster the device is. In other words, this small increase may confer some competitive advantage to Samsung, which for years sold its most expensive cell phones with its own chips from the Exynos line.
Other factors, however, need to be considered in this balance. After all, the higher the performance, the more the chip tends to consume power. Also, when overclocking, the equipment will get hotter.
As Uncle Ben said, great power comes with great responsibility. So before even overclocking, Samsung needs to think of a way to cool the Galaxy S23 when all that power peaks. Otherwise, the effort will be wasted due to the thermal throttlinga protection that reduces the CPU clock rate in cases of overheating.
And this is, for me, one of the biggest headaches of my Galaxy S21 FE🇧🇷 The cell phone has a great performance for those looking for a smartphone around R$ 2,500, but the Exynos 2100 is very hot. I’m not one to play games on my smartphone, but as soon as I start using the camera harder, everything starts to slow down until the temperature drops.
And this is not the expected experience on a cell phone that should cost more than R$ 5 thousand in Brazil, like the Galaxy S22correct?
Anatel has already approved cell phone batteries
With or without an improved processor, the Galaxy S23 is almost a reality. After all, last week, Anatel approved the trio’s batteries, which must have up to 5,000 mAh of typical capacity, as revealed by Technoblog with exclusivity🇧🇷 The phones, however, have not yet been approved in Brazil.
Other bets revolve around the Galaxy S23. It is the case of More flexible satellite communication than iPhone 14which would help to get in touch with acquaintances in cases of emergency, for example. The Ultra variant could also gain a 200-megapixel camera🇧🇷
The trio should be announced by Samsung in early 2023.
