During the Google Cloud Next ’22 event, which took place on Tuesday (11), the company announced a novelty that will bring together two of its applications. Thus, users can now transcribe entire Meet meetings through Docs, creating a document with the content of conversations and presentations. Even exciting, this option is not yet available to everyone.
According to Google, the new feature transcribes the entire video call into a Docs file, which is saved in the “Meet recordings” folder in the owner’s Google Drive. For meetings of less than 200 people, the user who initiated the text recording will receive a link via email to the document upon completion.
In situations with more than 200 guests, transcription will be performed, but will only be shared with the host, co-hosts and organizers. For something recurring, everything will be added to the individual’s calendar.
The possibility of this new tool is something welcome, no doubt, as it helps those who missed the meeting or simply want to remember what was said. It works like a minute, which can be used for later. However, this novelty is only offered in English, and its availability is tied to desktop use.
For now, the functionality is available for members of Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus and Teaching and Learning Upgrade customers.
Therefore, the Google Meet transcription feature for Docs is not released for users of Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Education Standard, Enterprise Essentials, Education Fundamentals, Frontline Edition, Google for Nonprofits, personal Google accounts, and legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers.
Google Meet continues to innovate
With the aim of overcoming the confusion of naming changes in your servicesGoogle is looking to deliver as many options to its installed base as possible.
In addition to the novelty with the transcripts, the Meet will now allow Spotify and YouTube sharing during video meetings.
The coolest thing about this is that the app will have not only music and video, but also games as alternatives to share with the participants of the video call.
Finally, it is worth remembering that the companion mode came to Meet in 2022. It allows for two simultaneous screens to facilitate interaction between guests of hybrid meetings.
