After several years of rumours, it seems that the apple will finally launch its headset for virtual reality (VR, in English) in 2023. All the effort to reveal the new product, however, resulted in some sacrifices: according to Mark Gurman, from BloombergThe iOS 17 it’s the iPadOS 17 will not bring much news on this occasion.
The details were revealed in the newsletter Power On.
At Publication of this Sunday (8)Gurman explained that Apple is focusing on the announcement of its next gadget, which is quoted to be unveiled later this year.
This dedication to launching the virtual reality, on the other hand, impacted the development of other products. The journalist even went so far as to state that Apple may have “fewer important innovations to present this year”.
And this is where the future of the operating system for iPhone and iPad comes in: both iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, known internally by the codename “Dawn”, tend to bring a reduced package of news compared to previous editions.
macOS 14, identified by engineers as “Sunburst”, would also be impacted by Apple’s decision.
Gurman, on the other hand, did not specify the novelties planned for the new versions of the operating system.
The new versions of operating systems are expected to be presented at WWDC 2023.

xrOS could be Apple’s new operating system
Meanwhile, Apple is working hard to debut its new VR headset, which would be introduced under the trade name Reality Pro.
The product is expected to reach consumers with xrOS, an operating system also identified by the codename “Borealis”. For now, only a small group of developers have access to the software to prepare apps for the device.
Although there are not many details about the functions of the future device, the information revealed this weekend indicates that development is advanced.
Which is a relief, as this story has been floating around the internet for many years. And there are already children in arms running and crying because they can’t take all this delay anymore.

Headset expected to be announced in 2023
Let’s go back to 2020. Back then, there was talk about the delivery of an alleged prototype of virtual reality glasses to Foxconna company that manufactures various Apple products.
Then, in 2021, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted that the iPhone 14 Pro would have a camera that shoots in 8K to be used with Apple’s future headset, indicating the proximity of the launch of the new product. The cell phone, however, only records videos in up to 4K.
But the escalation of rumors only happened in 2022. In May, for example, the Technoblog revealed that Apple registered the trademark “realityOS” in Brazil. There was even a bet on resources, like iris scanning for biometrics.
Gurman returned to the scene in September. In this ocasion, he pointed out that the headset would be unveiled in 2023.
This Sunday (8), the journalist from Bloomberg maintained the launch bet of the VR headset for 2023.
