After the Xiaomi 13, the Motorola introduced its first cell phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2: O Moto X40🇧🇷 The release this Thursday (15) comes with android 13 and draws attention to its screen with a refresh rate of 165 Hz. The list of highlights still adds the 50 MP triple camera and the 125 watt recharge.
Let’s start with the advanced technical sheet of the cell phone announced in China.
The Moto X40, which should arrive in the west as part of the Edge line, attracts the spotlight for bringing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2🇧🇷
Presented in November, Qualcomm’s processor stands out for its bet on the Hexagon. The chip, which is geared towards artificial intelligence (AI) tasks, has become faster and more efficient. The image sensor (ISP) has also been updated to ensure better quality photos.
But the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 maintained its proposal to be the most powerful of the new generation – until the Plus variant was launched, of course.
The component has become more efficient and has a Prime core, for heavier tasks, at 3.2 GHz. In the middle, there are four intermediate components, 2.8 GHz each. The grouping is completed with the three energy efficient cores, 2 GHz each.
It is worth remembering that this is not the first cell phone with the chip. On the 12th, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro with Snadpragon 8 Gen 2🇧🇷 Other manufacturers have also looked into the chip.

Moto X40 has up to 12 GB of RAM
contrary to what TENAA certification pointed outthe Moto X40 is on sale with up to 12 GB of RAM LPDDR5X🇧🇷 In addition, the UFS 4.0 storage leaves nothing to be desired and goes up to 512 GB.
Check out the arrangement options below:
- 8 GB of RAM + 128 GB of space;
- 12GB + 256GB;
- 12GB + 512GB.
These sets, alongside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, should offer impeccable performance to the cell phone.
Thinking about it, Motorola optimized the cooling system so that games and other heavy activities run without punishing the cell phone.
The improved system will also be important for the battery. After all, with 4,600 mAh, the component has 125 watt fast recharge🇧🇷 Fortunately, the charger comes with the phone in the box.
The same power, it is worth remembering, appears in other models of the brand, such as the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra that already is for sale in Brazil🇧🇷
The cell phone also comes out of the box with android 13 of manufactures.
No information about updates yet. But Motorola promised three versions of Android for the Edge 30 Ultra.
Let’s hope this also happens with the new generations of the Edge and Moto G lines.

The high numbers continue on the 6.7-inch screen. In addition to Full HD+ resolution, the panel has 165Hz refresh rate🇧🇷
This specification goes beyond what the market has offered: 120 Hz. And, of course, the gamer audience is the main beneficiary of faster updates. After all, the graphics become more fluid.
However, is 165 Hz really necessary? Especially when you think that the higher the refresh rate, the more battery life is wasted.
It would be better to bet on more efficient screens, with a variable refresh rate between 1 Hz and 120 Hz, like the Galaxy S22 Ultra🇧🇷 Thus, the cell phone will be able to activate lower frequencies when reading texts, seeing photos, surfing the internet or accessing social networks, for example.
Furthermore, the user will still be able to explore the fluid graphics at 120 Hz, if he wants to play with more visual comfort.
This measure, yes, would bring more benefits to a wider audience, as it would help save battery life on a daily basis.

Launch brings two 50 MP cameras
Finally, let’s talk about the photographic set. also following releases previousMotorola kept the excellent idea of including at least two sensors with the same resolution.
The Moto X40 features a 50-megapixel main camera and an ultrawide lens with the same resolution. The grouping is complete with the 12-megapixel sensor that accompanies the telephoto lens.
Of course, let’s not forget about the 60-megapixel front camera. The sensor is located in a hole in the screen.
The list of smartphone specifications is complete with the fingerprint reader under the display. The model still supports 5G and NFC🇧🇷

price and availability
For now, the phone is only available in China. But it is worth repeating: the model should arrive in other countries as part of the Edge line.
Chinese consumers can already buy the Moto X40. There, the model is for sale with the following suggested prices:
- 8GB + 128GB: 3,399 yuan (about R$2,595 in direct conversion);
- 12GB + 256GB: 3,699 yuan (R$2,820);
- 12GB + 512GB: 4,299 yuan (R$3,280).
There is still no forecast for the launch of the cell phone in Brazil and other countries.
