This Tuesday (27), Netflix shared curious data about its productions released in 2022. In addition to showing some of the main metrics and trends achieved in the period, the company also revealed which were the most watched series and films of the year, in a selection that goes through names like Stranger Things 4 and Enola Holmes 2.
It is true that not everything was rosy for Netflix in 2022. The company, which went through the biggest subscriber crisis in its history, managed, however, to launch very popular productions in 2022, ending the year with six out of the ten most searched series on Google.
In addition, she led the Golden Globes 2023 streaming nominationsshowing that just like the public, critics have paid attention to what the service has been doing.
According to the company, to reach the top 10 of the year – which was divided between English and non-English language series and films and productions –, the service evaluated all titles released between January 1, 2022 and December 18, 2022. The selection includes miniseries, feature film sequels, new seasons of shows, animations and even Korean productions.

Netflix was the most watched streaming in 2022
In addition to the released lists, Netflix revealed some interesting metrics about its year.
The highlight, of course, was the fact that the company achieved more positions in Nielsen’s top 10 than all other streaming platforms combined. Something very relevant, given the very competitive year we had in this sector.
In addition, still according to the platform, five of the top 10 English-language series (Stranger Things 4, Wandinha, Dahmer, Bridgerton [temporada 2] and Inventing Anna) and three of the top 10 English language films (The Adam Project, Hidden Agent and Salute to Love) most popular of all time debuted this year on the service.
Other curious points are that, this year, an original series by the company (Stranger Things 4) managed to take the song “Running Up That Hill“, by Kate Bush, to the top of the charts, almost forty years after its launch. And Korean titles proved to be here to stay, with 60% of the platform’s subscribers having watched a title from the country.
Finally, the company also revealed that adherence to film sequences and new seasons of shows was even greater in 2022 and that, on average, its users watched six different genres per month on the platform.
