The first day of Adobe MAX 2022, an annual event held by Adobe, brought important news for Photoshop users. The company announced that even more improved image selection, cropping and filling capabilities will be coming to the desktop version of the program, making it absurdly easy to erase people and objects from a scene.
If you’re the type of person who’s always wasted a lot of time selecting irregular Photoshop shapes, your days of suffering are about to end.
The novelty announced this Tuesday (18) by Adobe is, in fact, an upgrade of the selection tool launched by the company in 2020. Improved, the feature is now able to recognize a greater number of images and bring more fidelity and quality to your automatic selections.
This means that when using Photoshop to cut out a woman drinking coffee while working on the computer, just select the selection tool and click on the figure. Almost like magic, the program manages to precisely select all the details, including irregularities and nuances of the scene.
To give you an idea, among the figures that can now be recognized by Photoshop, are objects and landscapes such as sky, buildings, water and plants. This, in addition to different types of ground and soil, such as mountains, sidewalks and streets.
Easier to delete and fill images
Another important feature announced at the Adobe conference was the improvement of the software’s image deletion and filling function.
Although it already exists on the platform, the tool is now much easier to use, as a user simply selects the image in question and then presses the commands “Shift + Delete”.
Once this is done, not only will the chosen figure be deleted precisely, but the background of the image will be filled in automatically, continuing the landscape that was behind the figure.
Using the same foundation of artificial intelligence, Adobe Lightroom will also receive some updates similar to those mentioned above.
In order to save user time and facilitate their workflow, the platform will improve its selection feature for people, objects and backgrounds.
In addition, it will also allow for easier removal of elements and extend its presets, released in June this year, to portraits.
Photoshop for iPad also had news
Some new features of the selection function also ended up in the iPad version of Photoshop. Here, selecting and deleting a background from an image, for example, has become much easier, with just one click to make the entire background of the scene disappear.
In addition, the selection of a figure also gained improvements, being able to now identify photos of people, animals and objects with much more precision in the details.
It is worth remembering that, last year, Adobe released a version of Photoshop for the web. Still in beta and only available in select markets, it’s far from including all the desktop Photoshop tools, but it’s also gained some minor selection and removal improvements.
