Use the onboard WiFi it is a great alternative to kill time on plane trips, but the service prices are usually expensive. The good news is for customers with a postpaid plan TIM Blackwho will be able to use the internet for free on planes from Goal and Latam.
Free access to Wi-Fi on board for TIM customers will be available from October 14th. Passengers will be able to use the internet to browse websites, social networks, exchange emails and use messaging apps during domestic and international flights. Video streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube are not available for free use on board.
The downside is that the benefit will only be available to postpaid users, leaving control or prepaid subscribers aside, which represent the majority of TIM’s mobile customers. The cheapest TIM Black plan costs R$99.99 per month and offers up to 45 GB of mobile internet, considering all the bonuses offered.
The benefit is the result of a partnership between TIM and Intelsat (formerly Gogo), a provider of onboard Wi-Fi on Gol and Latam flights. THE Azul also offers internet on some aircraft; the service is free for all passengers and provided by Viasat.
TIM highlights being the first operator in Brazil to offer free internet during flights. A similar partnership exists in other countries: in the United States, T-Mobile also gives free in-flight Wi-Fi to users of some plans.
It is worth remembering that not the entire fleet of Brazilian airlines is equipped with Wi-Fi. In this case, it is good to check at the time of booking if the aircraft assigned to your flight allows internet connectivity.
How to access TIM’s free Wi-Fi on Gol and Latam
To use the internet on board, the customer must select the aircraft’s Wi-Fi network on their device and will be redirected to the home page. Then, just tap on the TIM banner, which takes you to the login screen.
Once this is done, enter your cell phone number and the password of the Meu TIM restricted area so that the connection is released. The login must be done with lines with TIM Black postpaid plan or TIM Black Família — in the latter case, only for the card holder of the contract.
Latam and Gol give free WiFi to WhatsApp
Users of other operators can get a taste of using Wi-Fi on board for free: Latam and Gol allow passengers to use it for free an exclusive package for messaging apps.
The free service allows access to WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and iMessage, but only includes sending and receiving text messages. Media such as photos, videos and audios and voice or video calls do not work for use on board.
Anyone who wants full access to the internet must hire a paid package. Check the prices of Wi-Fi on board Gol and Latam:
