O Whatsapp started releasing, this Monday (24), a novelty for those who test the desktop version of the messenger: it is the native tool to blur images. The feature has been in development since last June and is now gradually coming to beta users. The information is from WABetaInfo.
Last April, in the beta version 18.104.22.168 of Android, the messenger released some new tools in its native image editor and among the tested functions was the blur. Shortly thereafter, the WABetaInfo noticed that the same tool would be brought to the desktop.
It took more than four months for the solution to reach its initial testing stage, but it appears that it is being rolled out gradually in version 2.2241.2 of the messaging app.
With this solution, users can hide objects or information in photos with a blur quickly and in an organized manner. The blur option appears only when the user tries to upload a file.
according to WABetaInfoWhatsApp tests two types, one more intense and one more subtle, and there is even the possibility to choose its size for better accuracy.
As it is a tool in a first phase of testing, it may not be released as it is being distributed in beta versions, and may undergo changes. There is still no information on when it will be made available to all users.
Custom avatars are also tested
WhatsApp beta users on Android also received the custom avatars. The virtual dolls were launched in 2020 for Facebook and arrived on Instagram this year.
Everything works in a similar way: the user can customize their avatar, choosing the style that most resembles them — such as hair color, skin tone and face shape.
After that, it will be possible to use a pack with unique stickers that express different feelings and reactions, something that Apple already offers with Memojis. Natively, it is still possible to choose a doll to use as a WhatsApp profile picture.
For now, the feature is only available to selected users of the beta version (22.214.171.124) of the messenger for the Android system. However, there is still no information on when this functionality will be released to all users.
