From a distance, it looks like a Mac Mini. Looking closely, we see that it is the Xiaomi XM22AL5S🇧🇷 That’s the name of the mini-PC that the Chinese brand announced this week. With a 12th generation Core i5 chip and 16 GB of RAM, the novelty rides on the success of the Intel Nuc line, despite the similarity with the Apple computer.
The launch was expected. Earlier this month, images of a Xiaomi mini-PC appeared on the Chinese social network Weibo. The difference is that the prototype shown at the time had an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H processor.
The reason for the switch was not revealed, but the fact is that the Xiaomi XM22AL5S comes with the Intel Core i5-1240P, a 12-core chip and integrated Iris Xe GPU. The component is accompanied by 16 GB of DDR4 memory and 512 GB SSD in the standard configuration.
All of this has been packed into a cabinet that is just 112 x 112 x 38 mm. Compact size doesn’t hamper connectivity. On the front, the Xiaomi XM22AL5S houses two USB 3.2 Type-A (conventional) ports. At the rear, there are more ports of this type, in addition to USB-C connections with Thunderbolt, HDMI and Ethernet.
Specifications also include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 thanks to the presence of the Intel AX211 chip. The operating system is Windows 11.
price and availability
The Xiaomi XM22AL5S will hit the Chinese market in the coming days. There, the mini-PC will have an initial price equivalent to R$ 2,800.
There is no forecast for release in Brazil or other countries, which is a pity. Perhaps the equipment could even help mini-PCs become more popular here.
