Playlists are great allies to play videos from YouTube in sequence. However, the streaming platform offers an alternative for those who want to create temporary lists, but which is only available in the web version: the queue. Fortunately, the Google heard user requests and is experimenting with the feature in apps to android and iOS (iPhone and iPad)🇧🇷
The tool appeared at the beginning of December to premium users🇧🇷 But some people are getting the news gradually and even this week. This is the case of Mitchell Clark, from The Vergewhich was only alerted on Saturday (24).
I wasn’t even notified. 🇧🇷
But this did not stop the use of the resource. After all, subscribers can access the application’s settings to enable the queue.
There, there are also all the details of the tool, which will be available until January 28, 2023.

What’s the difference between queue and watch later?
According to YouTube, “users can add or remove as many videos as they want in the queue, as well as edit the order in which they are played.” Then you ask yourself: what is the difference between the Queue and the Watch Later playlist?
It’s simple.
The Assistir Mais Tarde playlist works similarly to Instapaper and Pocket. In these tools, you can save texts from the web to read more calmly at another time.
On YouTube, the logic is not very different. That is, if you are at work and found a cool video, you can save it to watch calmly at home, for example.
Queue is a little different. In this case, you create, in fact, a temporary list of contents to reproduce in the sequence. Something very similar to Spotify playlists.
Contents, moreover, do not stay in this selection forever, unlike playlists: after you’ve watched everything, you have to add more content to the queue to continue using it.

How to test YouTube Queue on mobile?
For now, only YouTube Premium subscribers have access to the news. If this is your case, perform the following step by step to activate queues on your cell phone:
- Access the YouTube home screen for Android or iOS;
- Tap your profile picture in the top right corner;
- Enter the “Your Premium benefits” page;
- Scroll down the page and tap on “Try new features”;
- Hit the “Take a test” button in the “Queue” section to activate the feature.
Soon, the feature will be enabled.
To use it, just tap the three-dot button next to the title of the videos on the homepage, search and the like, just like on the web version of the platform. Then, when the menu opens, just tap “Add as last in queue”.
The option may not be available to you. During my tests, even after activating it in the application settings, the option to include in the queue did not appear for me.
But when I used another cell phone with a different account, the queue worked normally.
It is not yet known when and if the feature will be available to everyone through the Android and iOS apps.
